Every gourd here is grown, not drawn. A seed sets a spine that may lean or crook over, a profile built from a few overlapping bulges, a ribbing pattern, a scatter of warts and a stem — and the result is a true surface in three dimensions, which the page then renders as pen and ink: flat colour, hatching that thickens into shadow, and a contour wherever the surface turns away from you.
The same seed grows the same gourd every time, so a link is a gourd. Inspired by Lingdong Huang's fishdraw.
