Print at 100% / Actual Size, with headers and footers off. Measure both sides of the 1-inch square before marking your blank.

At the workbench

Rough a sound, securely mounted blank to a cylinder slightly wider than the tree.
With the lathe stopped, transfer the station marks from the finished bottom datum.
Shape the slopes and shoulders gradually. Stop to check the target diameters.
Keep support at the tip and base until shaping is complete. Soften the rims and finish the ends using your chosen mounting method.
